Path of Exile item upgrader Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment is often superior to the more modernized Common or Magic equipment due to their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They improve the effectiveness of the item level upgrade they are attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of games and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. They can also be salvaged using a professional or higher salvage kit to recover upgrade components from other items.

The amount of damage an armored piece or weapon will absorb is contingent on the degree of upgrades. The damage absorption of an item upgrader kit of armor will increase as it is upgraded to its maximum upgrade level. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be more heavy.

There are several different types of armor upgrades that are available in the game. Each one has a distinct impact. For instance, certain upgrades will grant the armor a certain number of health points while others will make it lighter and stronger. The kind of armor upgrade an item will receive will be indicated by the name of the upgrade as illustrated in the table below.

Some upgrades are magic or a mix of technology and magic, which is shown by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges for use. They are referred to as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges for these upgrades refresh daily or never expire, depending on the upgrade.

The cheapest method of upgrading armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be obtained by exploring the environment and looting chests of minor loot. Titanium is more costly, but is readily available at the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide a significant boost to stats and are worth the cost, especially for single-handed weapons.

The player should be aware, however, that upgrading a piece up to the maximum upgrade items level can increase its defense values. However, it can also decrease its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor beyond +9. The defensive boost gained generally isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades give players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. For example an upgrade can enhance the damage caused by a shotgun's shells or the accuracy of a rifle that snipes. Some weapons have special upgrades that enhance their inherent characteristics. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of overheating of the weapon) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).

The majority of upgrades to weapons require the use of a whetblade, or one of the three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of bosses and monsters.

To improve their skills faster, most players will prioritize upgrading their weapons. In addition to these, players should consider upgrading the weapons favored by their teammates to increase their power as well. Jewels

Jewels can be used to increase a stat or provide secondary effects in weapons and armor. The quality of a diamond can be improved at the Jeweler in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. Based on the tier of the gem it can provide different stat boosts when inserted into weapons, gear and jewelry.

All levels of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a sufficient level to qualify for them. Jewels can be replaced by another jewel without damaging the original. You can only replace the gem once in an item of equipment.

It is common to use more jewelry for aesthetic reasons. Apart from improving performance, the jewels also create an area that is stronger than metal, so repeated friction from pivots won't cause harm as easily.

A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the appearance of your weapons and shields. They offer a small benefit and can be swapped freely, but are not guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs, just like jewelry, can be upgraded at the Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components like aegis or traits cannot be exchanged, and can only be retrieved by using an Upgrade extractor or salvaging with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets can be used to provide your hero with many small, but beneficial, benefits. They can be obtained in the beginning areas as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, or by performing road interactions. They can also be crafted by jewelers, and then found or purchased at the Trading Post.

The first trinket a player will unlock is the cloak. It gives a small but valuable boost in speed of movement and evasion. Then, they can purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in the same way to how a player acquires weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has an upgrade slot which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be put into any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded, and is only compatible with specific types of trinkets.

These trinkets can also grant buffs and skills that remain active when the hero is not fighting. This lets a hero be more efficient while inactive. It can also compensate for the lack of a good team or talent tree slots that are normally filled by a hero's top stats.

A good rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you will not replace in the near future, then any items with desirable stats but less important than the iLevel of the item upgrades being upgraded. This is especially true if you want to upgrade multiple statistics on an item. It's more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat instead of two subpar ones.

In the beginning of the game players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their yellow trinket into a red one, while top and middle players will usually opt for the pink or green ward (depending on the matchup). These choices will have an impact on the ability of a hero to control the map.

Aside from the items listed above, players can also find a number of other items in the form of awards and trophies. They can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story, such as completing a chapter's main quest or killing a certain boss.
