Bedside Crib and Travel Cot

Bedside cribs are a type of cot that can be attached to the side of your bed. They usually have a single side that can be put down for easy access and some come with an incline option that is ideal for babies with reflux.

MFM tester Georgina said that this crib was simple to put together and the directions were extremely clear. It was a quick build. It also folds down into a compact size and comes with a convenient bag for travel.

Easy to assemble

Bedside cribs are usually simple to set up and are on the smaller side so they fit neatly alongside your bed. They are also lighter, which makes them more portable. Georgina, one of our MFM home test participants, praised the Maxi-Cosi Lora for being "super straightforward to put together, with clear instructions and simple zips." The crib can also function as a travel cot and comes with a convenient bag for when you're traveling. It comes with multiple mesh windows to allow for airflow, and the adjustable height means it can be adapted to any mattress.

Some cribs for bedside baby bed use a side panel which can be removed so that you can easily access your baby without stepping out of bed. This is a great option for breastfeeding mothers or those who wish to be with their baby throughout the night, but do not want to risk co-sleeping (which is associated with an increased risk of SIDS).

Most models have an integrated rocking feature. This can be a very relaxing experience for your baby and help them to sleep. Some cribs have a recline position that is beneficial for children suffering from reflux or colic. This position is best used under supervision. You should talk to an expert in health or a doctor before attempting it.

Cozy and comfortable

A bedside baby sleeper crib lets you to keep an eye on your child from the comfortable bed. It's a great option for a new mum recovering from a csection, since you can easily carry your baby up to you for nappy or night feeds changes without having to get out of bed. And the cosiest cribs also have mesh sides that are breathable so you can see your newborn through.

If you're looking for something little smaller the Tutti Bambini CoZee is another stylish choice with oak legs and smart fabrics to match your decor. It's also super-easy to assemble - Georgina, who took part in our MFM tests assembled it quickly and didn't have to read the instructions. It's also a great travel cot that folds flat and popping into a bag for easy storage.

The Next2me Magic, which was shortlisted for the Best Cot, Crib or Moses Basket at the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards, is also slightly larger than the average, but is still quite compact and easy to fit into your bed. Georgina found it easy to assemble too, although she was not convinced that the zips could have been better explained on the instruction manual.

Easy to clean

When you're looking at bedside cosleeper cribs and travel cots make sure they have a mattress cover that is removable that is machine-washable. This will keep it clean and free of spills, leaky diapers, and spit-up. You should also choose an item that can be easily disassembled, allowing you to clean and sanitise every nook and cranny.

This is crucial, as it will ensure that all dirt and germs have been removed. Verify that the sides of the crib are securely attached to ensure that your baby won't fall off or be trapped.
